LAST JOURNAL
ENTRY
Lille, France - 10 September 2007
Hey all, hope this finds you happy and well !
Deep apologies that it has taken so long for a journal update
but i've been having too good a time lately and been too lazy
to write...ha ha.
2007 has been a great year so far with some huge shows including
the VAN MORRISON support at the Olympia in Paris in march
and an incredible tour with JOHN BUTLER TRIO in France and
Germany in april. The JBT tour is this years obvious highlight
so far as every show was totally sold out and totally brilliant
with amazing reactions and the absolute honour of being invited
up by John every night to jam "PEACHES AND CREAM"
with him and the band in the encore. It was a magical tour
and the crowds were just so awesome. So great too to see JBT
totally ripping it up all over the world. They must honestly
be one of the top 5 live acts going round and are the kindest
most beautiful bunch of guys too.
Another of this years highlights was returning to Japan to
play the Greenroom Festival for the second year in a row in
Yokohama in May. Man what an incredible time that was and
the Fest was yet again totally going off! The best this time
for me was to be able to also tour around Japan a bit more
and get to know this wonderful culture and be basically spoiled
for almost 10 days with some of the best food, coolest gigs
and wicked parties i have had in a long while!! A big UP goes
out to BUFFALO RECORDS as well as my buddy Shin and also Safu
San and all the crew from STOVES/GRASS ROOTS !!
June and July saw me return home to tour Australia for the
first time in over 18 months. A totally brilliant time but
i have to say 5 weeks passed like 5 minutes...it all went
so quick !! Was so great though to grace the Aussie stages
again and meet up with family, friends and all my amazing
fans back home. So many awesome gigs with different higlights.
The Basement in Sydney was killer as well as the Northcote
in Melbourne, Sound Lounge Currumbin (great after party Craig
and Nat !!) and The Entrance Leagues on the Central Coast.
Other standouts were the sold out intimate dinner show in
Newcastle and the hilarious show at the Amble Inn Corindi
where the show included a beautiful bunch of kids going crazy
and singing along onstage to "Sweet Consequence"
and our impromtu version of "Hot Potato" by the
Wiggles!!! An awesome tour and enormous thanks to all who
came out and enjoyed it with us...and also to my amazing band
buds Damo, Tony and Evan... you guys are the such inspiring
players and incredible friends. I'm gonna miss you all big
time !!
We had the great honour of The Basement show in Sydney being
recorded Live for the ABC TV "LIVE AT THE BASEMENT"
Series. The concert will be broadcast on ABC in Nov. Keep
an eye out on the website for more details and don't miss
it!!
I returned to France at the end of July to play the wicked
ROCK EN STOCK FESTIVAL in Le Touquet. Wow what a perfect way
to come back to France playing this great Fest and recieving
such a massive reaction from the wonderful French audience.
I played this one with my percussion buddy Diego Bellorin
too... such a joy to jam out with this guy and to reconnect
in such a great way in my home away from home.
So now having just signed a label deal with BESIDES/ICI D'
AILLEURS and a publishing deal with VOLVOX/ BESIDES, things
are very busy here and also very exciting. It's so great to
finally be able to release my cds officially through France
and Europe and to now have a very motivated team behind me.
We are all looking forward to some big things coming up especially
with the release of "FINDING HOME" on October 1st.
European touring is just about to kick in again with my German
tour starting on 20 Sept and with touring currently being
organised and sorted for France, Belgium, Holland and the
UK in coming months. After a cool summer break here in France
I am itching to get back on the road and celebrate the new
album with you all. "FINDING HOME" is another little
chapter on my musical journey and definitely my most intimate
recording to date. It's going to be a real pleasure to play
these songs live as well as of course a big selection from
all the past recordings.
So thanks for all and hope to see you at a show somewhere
soon...
bisous
bisous
Mick
